My wife got me a "Burnout Tumbler – Pop Top Lid" for my birthday 10 weeks ago. I have used my tumbler literally every day since and I am thrilled with this product. It works exactly as advertised. I takes me about an hour to drink my morning coffee and before Burnout I would reheat it in the microwave probably 3 or 4 times a morning. I've probably saved enough in my electric bill to pay for the tumbler (well, maybe not yet). I also appreciate the fact that it is made in the USA. (Full disclosure: I went to Mizzou and my diploma says Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (except for that, no relation to Burnout)). Keep up the good work.
I usually use the Contigo mugs, but they keep the drinks too hot. This product does a great job getting coffee to a drinkable temperature FAST.
The durability of the cap leaves much to be desired. I've had two Burnouts, and both have cracked. I place coffee mugs and water bottles in the drink sleeve of my backpack. This mug is thinner than most coffee mugs, and it often falls out as I lift my backpack from the ground. My old Contigo mugs could withstand falling from a few feet. This one can't.
If you're hard on your water bottles or mugs (like I am), don't buy this. All the engineering went into temperature regulation, and not enough was devoted to the durability of the cap.
I have bad tremors so the mug and handle are perfect! And keeps my coffee the perfect temp. Thanks guys!!
My family gave me a 12oz tumbler with the pop-top lid as a gift. I loved that it's made in the US (although I hope the imported parts are not from China) and that it's manufactured in Columbia, MO (Mizzou alum). However, the lid design needs improvement. When I've taken a sip, the "stopper" leaves a drip of coffee on my nose, which is rather annoying. Also, the locking mechanism slides easily, which causes the lid to pop open and leak, creating a mess in my handbag.
I am disappointed that the company has not responded to the reviewer's comments. This is a premium product made by "rocket scientists." I would expect a redesign of the lid by now. Thumbs down.
I've had one for about a year. I spent months searching for a made in America travel mug and this is as close as it comes. Every company has to source some things from overseas, and Burnout is making the effort to get as much done in America as possible. I wanted to do a trial run and now I'm back to buy more. I have washed it multiple times in the dishwasher and it held up better than some of the other mugs I've had to the point where I'm handwashing it now so that I can use it everyday. I have the flip top lid. Someone said the lid pops open, but the button has a tab that you slide up to lock it so no problems there. Someone also said that the lid hits their nose. This occasionally happens to me, but the lid can be opened one notch wider and that seems to do the trick. I pour warm water in mine in the morning and let it set while I have my breakfast, then I empty it out and pour in my hot tea. It is too hot for about an hour, but then I get a good 5+ hours of perfect temperature.
