I was very excited to find out this mug exists, and even more so to receive it. This solves a big problem for me, as I no longer have to put the coffee in the fridge for a few minutes or leave my mug open in an attempt to let it cool to non nuclear levels. I’ve been using it nonstop since and can confirm it works fantastically and does exactly what it claims. Within a minute or so of pouring my coffee it’s sipable, and within a few minutes it’s drinkable and stays hot for hours. My only regret is not opting for the pop-top lid as the slide closure lid is downright aweful. Don’t misunderstand me, it works, doesn’t leak, but it’s just a terrible design. If your a Contigo mug user, might might remember their first gen lids, when they were difficult to clean. This lid is reminiscent of those first gens. Also it’s horribly non-ergonomic in design. The slide is not easy to use one handed, is not automatic, and the spout is a flat edge with no contour and just feels awkward to drink from. It’s not comfortable on the lips if that makes sense. Almost like your always trying to avoid drips while drinking from it. I much prefer the industry standard when the lid has a press/seal function, where you press a button to open and when you release it auto magically reseals. Hopefully the spout lid is better, and back in stock soon. I really hope they redesign the standard lid completely to and auto seal type. That would make this mug completely unbeatable.

How do I clean the lid on the 16 mug. It seems that it congeals deep inside where I can’t get to. Is there a video that demonstrates how to take apart, and reassemble the lid !! (I LUV this mug !)

Is there a lid option that allows the use of a straw?

SAME QUESTION — Is there a lid that permits the use of a straw for drinking??

Due to the helpful and honest reviews of your customers, I have decided to not buy the burnout thermos until you can improve the lid.I was going to buy them for all of our staff at our local coffee shop. That being said, you just lost a sale for 10, 16oz tumblers, due primarily to the fact your lid has legitimate issues that need to be addressed. I don’t see where you are answering your customers questions/concerns, so you may not even read this. In the event you do read this-take the time to reply to your customers. It’s not that difficult and it speaks volumes for your business, good or bad.

I own a coffee roasting company and am always on the lookout for coffee equipment Made In USA. The Burnout mugs are not only great mugs, but also are Made In USA. That’s why I have written a review, including a video on these great mugs. Follow this link to my Burnout Mug review: https://www.lakecitycoffee.com/insulated-coffee-mugs-made-in-usa/

So, it was my understanding that there was NO production of stainless steel insulated bottles in the United States. Can you tell me where the stainless steel is made for this mug? And exactly which parts are made in the US?

Are these mugs made and manufactured in America? Thanks!
We do all manufacturing including the production of the material that is inside of the mug in the US. We do import some parts to save on the overall cost of the mug, but we are actively working to bring everything to our primary location to create a 100% Made in USA product.

My 16oz mugs arrived today. I see they are $25 less now than two days ago. I purchased two. Would you be willing to credit me the difference without me returning them for a refund?

Greg,
You are all taken care of!
Thanks, BURNOUT Team

As a busy mom chasing a toddler, my coffee was never the right temp unless I chugged it during that magic few minutes. Now I can get distracted playing with blocks but come back to a still perfect sip of coffee. I’m talking HOURS later. It fits in my cupholder, my backpack and my life.

I received this as a gift following the birth of my second child and it is my favorite thermos! Between work and running around with my two kids, this is THE only way I get to enjoy my coffee while it’s actually still hot and without immediately burning myself. I’ve had it 10 months now and it has withstood quite a lot of drops, dishwashing, and my kids getting ahold of it to play with it. It finally took a 5 foot drop onto cement in my garage to finally show any damage where a piece of the lid came off, but even then, it’s still useable and I’m figuring out how to fix it. Overall, it’s a very good thermos!
Derek – December 28, 2021
How many minutes does it take for the tumbler to make the hot beverage drinkable?
Caleb – December 29, 2021
It took about 5 minutes for mine. That’s straight out of the coffee pot. But if it was like boiling water, it’d obviously be a little longer 😂.

When will you offer nicer colors? I’d love to buy a mug as a gift for a friend but black or red are such harsh colors. With all the work from home jobs people would love some cups that match their decor.

I bought a customized 16 oz mug and it’s beautiful. I am a coffee enthusiast and this is the best bug I have used
Nicholas De Cino (verified owner) – October 3, 2022
Mug is decent, the screw on lid leaks and doesn’t seal very well. It always makes a mess when pouring from if and if not kept in the upright position, it will leak. Made in America with US and Imported parts. Knowing this now I would of not purchased. Get rid of the screw type lid! I preheat mine with ~145 degree water, minimum 5-10 minutes and usually do it twice before putting in the coffee. The statement, “BURNOUT brings your coffee to a drinkable temperature in minutes and then keeps it there for hours”. I agree with the first part, the second well that is left up for interpretation. On a positive note, I enjoy that you can drink from it and not burn your mouth. I also like that it is dishwasher safe.

I bought one as a gift for my girlfriend, and now I have to buy one for myself, because it is fantastic!
I held off buying this for more than a year. I saw the product and was fascinated, having spent hours looking at battery charging mugs, mugs that heat water, mugs that just have a thermometer… My problem was that my vacuum mugs consistently kept my coffee too hot to the point that it burned me, unless I left the lid off, at which point the coffee got cold. I’m forgetful. So having a mug that cools off my coffee and keeps it there for hours really let me start enjoying my coffee, throughout the day. No more scalded tongue, no more cold stale coffee. I was just drinking my coffee and marveling at the engineering involved, and realized that I use this every day but haven’t reviewed it yet. My best friend got it for me, but knowing what I know today, I would have bought it when it first came out. Also, the support team rocks. I had an issue with my new flip top lid and they not only gave me a personal response noting that they were fixing the design, they also sent me a replacement. I was partially holding off due to the lack of a 20oz option, but frankly when I can enjoy my coffee throughout the day, rather than chugging it during a 10 minute window where the temperature is right, I don’t need more than 16oz. Also they are built like a tank. Mine has seen a lot of ‘love’. Seriously, buy once, cry once. You won’t regret it.

Great travel mug. I use it all the time. But do you have any advice on cleaning it? Is there some way to take it apart? It is hard to clean sections of it. I have soaked it in baking soda and vinegar to loosen stuff, but I need some tool or a way to take it apart to really clean it. Especially the lever part that is not visible and touches the lid when it closes. Hopefully that is an adequate description. Thanks.
Andie – November 18, 2022
I made the decision really early on not to drink anything other than black coffee in it. So I generally just rinse it with hot water… But I haven’t disassembled it..I wonder if a waterpik or other such device could wash the crevices? Or even a higher pressure faucet? If you have an espresso machine with a steamer you might try steaming it carefully (use tongs). Hope that helps, sorry I don’t have first hand experience!
Scott S – December 16, 2023
I have used a water pick to get the gunk out of the impossible to reach places. Best way I’ve found. I wish the lid came apart too.
Jenn (verified owner) – October 18, 2024
I bought 4 of these mugs for me and my family for Christmas 2023. We all LOVE them! I use mine for hot tea and also for keeping my infused water cold. I’m reaching my daily water-drinking goals because I don’t come back to a tepid drink, hot or cold, when I get busy. Recently, one of the mugs became defective (the mug stayed too hot to hold but cooled down way too fast). Burnout honored the warranty with excellent communication and replaced our mug. This is a great, American company with a great American product!
Jenn,
